A burns victim who faced taunts such as 鈥渨orm hands鈥� says people with disfigurements should 鈥渆mbrace鈥� the way they look.

Lucy Wilson from Derby suffered burns to her leg after she was scalded as a baby. She had four fingers and three toes amputated, and has since had more than 50 operations.

Growing up, Lucy, now 20, says bus drivers 鈥渨ouldn鈥檛 put change her hands鈥� and she was sometimes 鈥渇ollowed鈥� by people wanting to look at her scars.

The university student hopes by sharing her story, she can support other burns survivors who are 鈥渁fraid to go out鈥�.
