TV chef: Supermarkets 'ridiculously fussy'
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has said that supermarkets are "ridiculously fussy" when it comes to the appearance of fruit and vegetables.
He said that because of the "fiercely competitive" nature of the supermarket industry, food is regularly rejected because it does not reach "cosmetic standards".
He said that many farmers are too afraid to challenge the supermarkets that they provide too because they have a "griphold" over them.
The first episode of Hugh's War On Waste is broadcast tonight (Mon) at 21:00 on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ One.
