A year ago, Chelsea were unbeaten at the top of the Premier League and ardent fan Richard told 5 live sport his side had 鈥渙utgrown鈥� the competition.

Today, with his side sitting 15th, he tells Mark Chapman he still feels the same.

He says: 鈥淭he evidence is the only competition that Chelsea have been in and haven鈥檛 won is the World Club Championship, and we got to the final and were unlucky鈥� is there any other side in England that has won everything?鈥�

When reminded of his side鈥檚 current plight, which has left question marks over manager Jose Mourinho鈥檚 future at the club, Richard added: 鈥淚鈥檓 not going to defend Chelsea鈥檚 performances this season 鈥� we鈥檝e been awful. The side has been bad, but the club have outgrown the Premier League.鈥�

His remarks caused outrage, causing one listener to remark that Richard was the 鈥渕ost deluded, ridiculous fan of all time鈥�.
