Canada head coach: Life bans 'absolutely necessary'
The International Olympic Committee wants Russian athletes found guilty of doping to face disciplinary action, including being stripped of their medals. It follows a damning report from the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The head coach at Athletics Canada, Peter Eriksson, says lifetime bans for those found guilty are "absolutely necessary".
He also backs newly elected IAAF President Sebastian Coe, but says this is his "one chance" to "clean up" the sport.
A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, says the claims in the report "appear rather unfounded".
