Kurds fight to retake Iraqi town
Kurdish forces say they are making progress in a major offensive against fighters from the so-called Islamic State who captured the town of Sinjar in northern Iraq last year. The Kurds say they have cut off Sinjar on three fronts and are massing for a final push to re-take the town. Christine van den Toorn, who works for the American University in Iraq, explains the strategic importance of the town.
