Today is the first day same sex couples can legally marry in Ireland. Last May voters opted overwhelmingly in favour of the legal recognition of gay marriage, making it the first country in the world to vote publicly for the issue. Orla Howard and Dr Grainne Courtney married in New York in 2013. Today, the Irish state recognises their marriage officially for the first time. Orla Howard explains what it means to them:
