Jonah Lomu tribute: ‘He changed face of rugby’
New Zealand rugby union great Jonah Lomu has died unexpectedly overnight at the age of 40.
Former All Blacks Zinzan Brooke was a teammate of Jonah Lomu at the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
Brooke said Jonah was a “great friend” who “changed the face of rugby”.
Lomu, the former All Blacks player, scored 37 tries in 63 matches for New Zealand between 1994 and 2002. The winger had been diagnosed with a rare and serious kidney condition by 1996. It forced him to quit the game and he had a kidney transplant in 2004, but the organ stopped functioning in 2011.
Brooke said Lomu was the “destroying superstar” and the rugby world “won’t see another like [him]”.
