New Zealand rugby union great Jonah Lomu has died aged 40 - he had been diagnosed with a serious kidney condition by 1996.

His family said he died suddenly shortly after returning from a trip to Britain where he had been watching the Rugby World Cup.

Lomu played more than sixty Tests for the All Blacks, in a glittering career that was cut short by kidney disease.

For many people he came to prominence with his performance against England in the World Cup semi-final in 1995 in South Africa.
