Jon Walters: National team spirit is like a club side
Jonathan Walters praised the spirit in the Republic of Ireland camp after Monday’s play-off victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina sealed a place at Euro 2016.
The Stoke forward scored both goals in a 2-0 second-leg win and believes the capacity crowd in Dublin saw one of the best Republic sides of recent times: "It's a very special group. We're all so close and the spirit's unbelievable. I've been involved in Premier and lower-league clubs and the spirit is similar to that. The group that's been put together gets you through some difficult away trips."
The 32-year-old also praised the impact experienced management duo Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane have had on the team, saying: "The way that we've qualified and the way the squad has been, you can't get better than that."
