Pet expert: Think twice about leaving animals unattended
Pet bereavement counsellor Pam Burne-Jones has said owners of animals need to "think twice" before they leave their pets unattended.
Speaking to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ 5 live's Rachel Burden, Pam said it's "really important" to keep micro-chipping information up to date and to keep "good photographs" so that a missing pet can be identified effectively.
The number of cats and dogs stolen in the UK rose by 40 per cent from 2012 to 2014, according to the pet charity Blue Cross who have gathered figures from police forces across the country. It's calling for tougher penalties for people who steal pets, saying the effect of having a pet stolen can be devastating.
