Courteeners: Fergie retirement stopped Old Trafford gig
Courteeners frontman Liam Fray says his dreams of playing on the pitch at Old Trafford were dashed by Alex Ferguson announcing his retirement.
Speaking to Afternoon Edition’s Dan Walker, the Manchester singer (pictured, left) joked that the Manchester United manager’s decision was a “selfish” one.
Fray said the band played in the parade at the town hall instead, which “brought so many people together” and was “nice to be part of”.
“It was different from a gig, it was their love of football why they were there. We even saw a City shirt in the crowd," he said.
