Miracle Baby in Manger a month before Christmas
New York Police are looking for the parents of a baby who was left in a manger at the Holy Child of Jesus Church. The baby was heard crying by the caretaker, who then discovered him wrapped in towels, and placed in a manger in a newly built nativity scene.
In New York, churches, hospitals, police and fire stations are "safe havens" where babies can be left without fear of arrest.
Father Christopher Heanue is Pastor of the Holy Child of Jesus Church. He explained more to Phil Williams.
UPDATE:
The mother of the baby has now been found, and will not be charged. The district attorney of Queens borough said the mother had been interviewed but he would not name her.
