Damilola Taylor's dad: I collapsed when I heard the news
Fifteen years ago, on 27 November 2000, a ten-year-old boy was on his way back home from Peckham Library when he was stabbed with a broken bottle, and left to die alone in a concrete stairwell. Damilola Taylor had only been in Britain for three months after moving with his family from Nigeria.
The news sent shockwaves throughout the country. His father Richard Taylor described how he "collapsed" when hearing the news of his son's death.
He told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 live: "I collapsed, that is all I remember until I was revived in the clinic by a doctor. I never thought such a thing could happen on the street."
