Why the northern lights are heading south
Changes to Earth's magnetic field will likely see the Aurora Borealis creep closer to the equator. Dennis Kent from Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory says the planet's magnetic field is returning to normal and that an inversion of the north and south poles is some way off.
