Campaigner: ‘Models should have health checks’
A woman, who says she was told by a modelling agency to slim 'down to the bone', will tell MPs this week that a new law is needed to protect vulnerable young people in the industry.
Twenty-three-year-old Rosie Nelson started a petition which has attracted more than 100,000 signatures. She'll address a parliamentary inquiry, which is gathering evidence to see if new legislation is required.
"I haven't had much backlash, I've had a lot of support, but I do worry that people won't want to attach themselves to my story as I am being very straight forward about how I want health to be the main focus of it."
Italy, Israel and Spain have all passed bills banning the use of ultra-thin fashion models, with France the latest to adopt a new law.
Rosie told Stephen Nolan that she would like a law enforced where models have to undertake health checks.
