Jamie Vardy: The Movie?
British Screenwriter Adrian Butchart on trying to turn the Jamie Vardy tale into a Hollywood film
Leicester striker Jamie Vardy broke Premier League records at the weekend scoring in his eleventh consecutive match.
Now his story might be aiming for some box office records as well. Adrian Butchard - the British-born screenwriter behind the first two films of the Goal! trilogy - wants to get Vardy's rise from 'non-league player' to 'record breaking Premier League star' turned into a movie.
Hollywood-based Butchart told 5 live's Phil Williams that the discussions are in the early stages, but that he hopes it could become a global success.
"People love an underdog story, people like to see somebody fighting against the odds and doing well, and that was really the phenomenal thing about Jamie's story, because he really has been through a roller coaster of ups and downs.
As for who should be cast in the leading role Butchart said: "It would be someone who's age appropriate, and Jamie's currently 28. Somebody who's the right athletic build. Somebody who can do something similar to a Sheffield accent, and if it's somebody who can play football, that would be great."
