‘Neville reminds me of Guardiola’
“In some areas, Gary Neville reminds me of nobody more in football than Pep Guardiola in 2007-08, as a communicator, as a football visionary”, says Spanish football journalist Graham Hunter.
Neville has been named as the new head coach of Valencia until the end of the season. His appointment follows the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo who resigned after his side’s 1-0 defeat by Sevilla.
Hunter says that for Neville, “language is going to be a difficulty, particularly given how key that is to Gary’s excellence”.
But he added that in Neville, whose first game in charge will be in the Champions League against Lyon on 9 December, the club have “the right man" for the job.
