A demolished New York masterpiece remembered
Penn Station - the busiest railway station in New York - is today considered by many to be an ugly place - but it was not always so. Before its three-year demolition began in 1963, the original Pennsylvania Station was a masterpiece of the Beaux-Arts style. Images of the original station, beautifully captured by the celebrated New York photographer, Louis Stettner, have been published in a book for the first time. It's called Louis Stettner: Penn Station, New York. Mr Stettner - now 93 years old - spoke to Dan Damon from his current home near Paris. Dan asked him to return to the Penn Station of the 1950s and describe the scene.
