New York Yiddish theatre revival
New York used to have a thriving Yiddish theatre scene, but it declined after the Second World War. Di Goldene Kale - The Golden Bride - hadn't been performed for almost 70 years, but a new production of the operetta has just opened there. The artistic director is Zalmen Mlotek and the principal actress Rachel Policar, who has been learning Yiddish for just three weeks.
