Claridge on Man Utd's Van Gaal: ‘What is he doing?’
Steve Claridge says he cannot understand what Louis van Gaal has done as Manchester United manager, and says there is 'no direction' under the Dutchman.
Van Gaal, who has previously managed Bayern Munich and Barcelona, is in his second season in charge at Old Trafford. A 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday means United have won just two of their last seven league games.
They are fourth in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Arsenal.
"What is he doing, someone give me a clue?” Claridge said.
“You could write a list 100 pages long with questions as to why did you do this? There are no answers, there is no direction, there’s no pattern.
“Tell me someone what he is trying to do and what direction he is trying to take the football club?
“If he’s managed like this you do wonder how he’s ever had the success he’s had because it’s been nonsensical a lot of the time,” he added.
