Secret Santa hands out cash in riot-hit Ferguson
A mystery Kansas City businessman has joined police to give away $100 bills on the streets of Ferguson.
The man, who has asked not to be identified, handed out the cash at second-hand shops and elementary schools, alongside officers from the Missouri Highway Patrol, FBI and Ferguson Police Department.
Ferguson's police force has faced severe criticism since the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in August 2014, which sparked demonstrations across the United States.
But Sergeant Al Nothum, an officer who joined the unnamed benefactor, told 5 live: "Tensions have dropped and now we're just trying to rebuild relationships. I got hugs from total strangers and I saw the tears running down their cheeks. It's completely different than it was a year ago."
