Expectant cinema goers in Hollywood saw their Star Wars dream turn into a nightmare after the projector broke during a screening of the film.

Erik Melendez had gone to see the film with friends and family and said the problems began with a series of technical glitches with the 3D. But the situation got worse when the film restarted several scenes further into the film.

"Everyone was going crazy" Erik said, "It was a crucial character development scene and we missed it because we didn't know what was going on. We thought we had just witnessed a bunch of spoilers so everyone was freaking out in the theatre. Everyone was going crazy, screaming, covering their ears, people running out of the theatre saying 'no don't ruin it', it was crazy"
