Channel 4's Supervet told 5 live how you can keep your pet safe over Christmas.

Noel Fitzpatrick, who is known for his pioneering surgery on animals, says pets deserve love at Christmas just like any other member of the family. But he told Afternoon Edition there are a few simple rules all pet owners should stick to:

1. Don't leave your pet home alone with the decorations
2. Don't let them eat any chocolate
3. Don't change their diet just because it's Christmas.
