In 1983 Erik Bauersfeld lent his vocal talents to the role of Rebel fleet commander Admiral Ackbar in Return of the Jedi. It took him just an hour, but he would go on to became a cult hero among Star Wars fans, and one of Ackbar's lines; "It's a trap!", has in recent years become an internet meme.

Now 93, Erik joined 5 live's Colin Paterson and five other actors from the original Star Wars trilogy to tell their stories, and explain how relatively minor roles in the films had changed their lives.

Speaking from his home in California, Erik revealed that he'd been asked to reprise the role of Ackbar in the long awaited seventh episode of the Star Wars saga, 'The Force Awakens' which opened in cinemas in December.

He said that he'd been called by director JJ Abrams, and within hours had been flown to Los Angeles to record the dialogue.

Whilst being introduced to another Star Wars actor, Paul Blake, Erik also admitted that he'd never actually seen the first Star Wars film all the way through.
