The rise of the mushroom thief
The Metropolitan Police Service's Royal Parks unit have said there has been a steady rise of illegal mushroom foragers over the last few years, with almost 80 people issued police warnings.
5 live's Lesley Ashmall went foraging with Adam Curtis, assistant manager at Richmond Park. He said mushrooms are a "very important" part of the park and an increase in foraging could "strip them out of the ecosystem".
"Please come and enjoy the park," he said - but warned that it is illegal to collect from any land "without a landowner's permission".
