With the Christmas schedule out of the way, The Great British Bake Off has been crowned the most watched TV programme of 2015.

Executive producer, Anna Beattie, said she "never anticipated" how successful it would be and it "humbled and amazed" at it's popularity.

She said that there are lots of things that make people want to watch the programme including the "generosity of spirit" at the heart of it.

"The tent isn't full of people who want people to fail - it's a competition for sure - but everybody celebrates everybody else's successes".
