Betwixt by Andrea Patrick Byrne
Award winning sound artist Andrea Patrick Byrne visited the 6 Music studio in November, and was taken with an anxiety dream that she heard Mary Anne Hobbs talking about. So ... she decided to interview Mary Anne and create an original bit of sound art. The end result is a beautiful piece titled Betwixt.
Andrea says:
'I was really inspired by the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radiophonic workshop Private Dreams Public Nightmares as an aural concept but the most inspiring thing was having access to Mary Anne casually mentioning the anxiety dream - it is such an evocative image of the records falling over a cliff and I imagine continuing to play under the sea, all-the-while being inaudible to Mary Anne and her audience. It was sitting in on one of her programmes that inspired me the most and listening to the personal stories and professional exchanges, and I really wanted to bring the narrative of the anxiety nightmare into the wide awake world.'
