Male breast cancer 'picked up by chance'

A man who has diagnosed with breast cancer has told 5 live Breakfast that he'd never considered checking his breasts before.

Dave Abbett from Redditch was told he had breast cancer in 2004 when he was 56-years-old and said it was discovered "by chance" when he went to the doctors about an unrelated problem.

Dave was given the all-clear in 2011 but said he "can't believe" how few men know they can be affected by the disease.

Figures released from the charity Breast Cancer Care has found that almost three-quarters of men don't check their breasts regularly for signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
