Lost elephant seal causes road 'mayhem'
A half-ton, pregnant elephant seal had to be sedated after she caused "mayhem" by getting stuck in the middle of a busy highway for two days
Dr Sean Johnson, who is chief veterinarian at the Marine Mammal Centre in California and was the one who tranquilised the seal, told 5 live the pregnant mammal was "lucky she didn't get hit by a car".
Dr Johnson went on to say "the traffic was backed up for miles" when rescue workers were called to the seal, who was stranded on Highway 37 in Sonoma County California.
