For Christmas 'I received the gift of life'
32-year-old Kimberly Chard has cystic fibrosis and has been waiting for a double lung transplant. She lives in Wales, where the law changed last month to bring in an “opt out” system of organ donation. It means it’s assumed you consent to your organs being used after your death unless you formally register otherwise.
Kimberly had her lung transplant on Christmas Eve. She's recovering at Harefield Hospital in London and says she's 'still trying to take in the selfless gift' that she's been given by her donor and their family.
