Director Diane Paulus on her history making Broadway musical
The 2007 film Waitress is now being turned into a musical on Broadway, but even before its debut this show is making history. For the first time its choreographer, writer, composer and director are all women. According to The Interval website, out of the 11 new plays which made it to Broadway last season, one was written by a woman and four were directed by women. Tony award-winning director of the Waitress musical, Diane Paulus, told Newshour's Razia Iqbal whether this was such a big deal for her.
