Queen swaps eiderdowns for ‘continental’ duvets
An etiquette expert has told 5 live that, although the guest beds in Windsor Castle now have duvets, it’s “very unlikely” the queen doesn’t have an eiderdown on her own bed.
William Hanson, who works for an etiquette consultancy, was responding to the news the royal residence is swapping eiderdowns for modern duvets in the guest bedrooms.
Mr Hanson went on to say that eiderdowns "require effort… but big rattling old houses ...aren't double glazed" so they are well worth it.
According to The Daily Telegraph, castle staff aren’t too pleased about the change because they say the use of eiderdowns is "one of those traditions that should be retained."
