New elements discovery is 'amazing' says physicist
A nuclear physicist has told 5 live that the discovery of four new elements is "amazing physics knowledge".
Dr Gemma Wilson was responding to the news that the new elements, 113, 115, 117 and 118, are to be added to the periodic table.
Dr Wilson, who is a research associate at the University of Massachusetts, went on to say that the new elements have no uses yet as "it takes years to produce one atom"
The new elements are the first to be included in the table since 2011, when elements 114 and 116 were added.
