
Do 'smart drugs' really work?
Modafinil has been labelled the "world's first safe smart drug" after a study by researchers at Harvard and Oxford universities suggested its effects were "low risk" when taken in the short term.
But side-effects can include insomnia, headaches and potentially dangerous skin rashes - and there is a considerable lack of data on its long-term effects.
To understand how it can potentially benefit users, he undergoes cognitive tests - before and after taking the smart drug. The results are not conclusive, as there were a number of other factors that could have affected them.
