Clarke Peters sings Boogie Nights
Actor Clarke Peters, best known as Detective Lester Freamon in The Wire, gave a pitch perfect rendition of Heatwave's Boogie Nights on 5 live’s Afternoon Edition.
The actor, who is currently starring in ITV’s Jericho, sang backing vocals on the original track recorded in 1976. Sarah Brett played him the song and an impromptu sing-a-long took place.
Explaining how he came to sing on the song, Peters told 5 live he was once in a band called the Majestics, who had a reputation for singing backing vocals. His friend was dating the bassist of Heatwave and he ended up at one of their studio sessions.
