Female cricket reporter: Gayle’s date proposal ‘degrading'
A female cricket journalist says it it was "humiliating and degrading" for TV reporter Mel McLaughlin to be asked on a date live on air by West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle.
Gayle made the comments during a Big Bash League T20 match in Hobart on Monday. He has since been fined A$10,000 (£4,900) by his side Melbourne Renegades.
Gayle has said he is sorry, but that the reaction was "out of proportion".
Cricket broadcaster Elizabeth Ammon said his comments were “utterly inappropriate” and "indicative of a bigger problem" in sport.
