Thousands call for new element to be named after Lemmy
Thousands of people have signed a petition calling for a new element to be named after late Motorhead singer, Lemmy.
John Wright, a fan of the band from York, set up the petition and said: "When somebody tells you they've discovered the heaviest of heavy metals that's kind of the rawest element in the universe, you've got to think Lemmy, Lemmium."
The petition will be submitted to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry and has even had support from Guns 'n' Roses bass player, Duff.
John says, "It's just flown from there," and is hopeful the committee will name the element 'Lemmium': "they are, I think, looking at this in February so the timing is great."
