Meeting your attacker
When you've been the victim of a savage attack, what does an apology mean?
Paul Kohler is a law lecturer who was savagely beaten by burglars in his London home in 2014. The men who attacked him are thought to have broken into his house to collect a debt, having mistaken it for another address.
After facial reconstructive surgery, Paul Kohler and his family have now been to meet his attacker in prison. He says it's not an act of mercy, but he's interested in restorative justice and seeing the crime from the perpetrator's perspective..He's been speaking to Weekend about what happened.
