In power for almost 37 years, President dos Santos is Africa's second-longest serving head of state - trailing Equatorial Guinea's Teodoro Obiang by just one month.

President dos Santos has said he wants to re-introduce a law which would prohibit the distribution of any film, recordings or photographs of a person on social media without his or her consent. This law was passed by the National Assembly in 2011 but suspended soon afterwards because of a public outcry.

Ricardo de Oliveira is Professor of African Politics at Oxford University and the author of a recent book which looks at Angola since the end of its civil war in 2002. He explained to Weekend's Paul Henley what the Angolan government is doing to try to restrict the internet.
