Room author: How I re-wrote my novel to become a film
Author Emma Donoghue has spoken about being Oscar-nominated for her very first screenplay - an adaptation of her own novel, "Room".
The film which is adapted from her best-selling novel of the same name, also received an Best Director Oscar nomination for Lenny Abrahamson.
In an interview with Sarah Brett, Emma said, "I enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't at all have the experience that you often hear about when writers get bruised by the film industry".
And she revealed that the film company "let me work for several years closely with our extraordinary director Lenny Abrahamson and they kept saying you know, don't let financial considerations come in".
