As Major Tim Peake becomes the first official British astronaut to carry out a spacewalk, we find out more about the history of the space suit, which has changed a great deal over the years. Chris Riley, a science historian and professor of science and media at the University of Lincoln, says that the spacesuit is absolutely necessary.
