Quickest way to use an escalator?

A recent experiment on the London Underground proved that standing-only escalators are more efficient resulting in a 27% increase in capacity.

Professor Ed Galea of Greenwich University has researched escalator etiquette and said if everyone stands “you get a higher through-put”.

He said that in China and Shanghai "virtually no one walks up the escalator" because they know that more people will get through.

He said to make the underground as “efficient as it could possibly be […] you need everyone not to walk”.
