How I cracked a 230-year-old lovers' code
A retired IT engineer from Hampshire has cracked the secret code on a 230-year-old trinket, after seeing it on Antiques Roadshow.
Paul Wisken was watching the show with his wife when he saw the cosmetic box valued between £800 and £1,200.
Experts were unable to make sense of the numbers engraved on it, and Paul set to work.
It took the crossword and puzzle enthusiast about five hours to work out the coded message said: "the gift is small but love is all".
Paul told Adrian Chiles: "It would be lovely if someone could find a whole load of letters that went with it, in code as well."
