Postpartum psychosis: I was scared of my baby
A mum who suffered from postpartum psychosis has described her overwhelming fear of her own baby, and the graphic hallucinations she experienced after giving birth.
35 year old Eve Canavan's son, Joe, was born 6 years ago and soon afterwards she developed postpartum psychosis, a serious but rare, psychiatric illness which occurs in less than one in 1,000 births.
Eve has now fully recovered and, through her work with the mental health charity MIND, has gone on to advise EastEnders on the current storyline in which Stacey Branning suffers from the condition.
Eve told 5 live's Afternoon Edition that before she got help, her condition led to graphic hallucinations including the belief that she was lying in a coffin being buried alive.
