Birmingham hospital boss: We've solved weekend crisis
Dame Julie Moore, Chief Executive of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, has told 5 live that she feels she has solved the problem of junior doctor staffing at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Speaking to 5 live Daily鈥檚 Peter Allen and 蜜芽传媒 Health Editor Hugh Pymm, she said:
鈥淲e have sorted it, we provide seven day services here, it might be that the new contract enables us to do it in a more cost effective way, I don鈥檛 know鈥.
When asked why the national negotiations are taking so long if the answer is straightforward, Dame Julie replied:
鈥淎t some point we鈥檒l get presented with what鈥檚 been agreed, but actually we鈥檝e been negotiating with our doctors who do work at weekends and provide an excellent service 鈥 the junior doctors are a vital part of what we do here鈥
