De Villiers has offered no assurances about his future beyond the England series, admitting for the past three years he has not always enjoyed the game. He described international cricket as still being the pinnacle for a cricketer but that it has to move with the times. Players are now able to earn more money appearing in Twenty20 leagues such as the Big Bash and the IPL which are shorter and less demanding on the body.
