Labour leadership's 'dereliction of duty'

Former shadow minister Rachel Reeves criticised Labour for “focusing inwardly” on issues like Trident, which she said did not resonate with the public, rather than jobs and the economy.

Ms Reeves said the leadership had to take responsibility for having “opened up” the issue of Trident - which Jeremy Corbyn wants to scrap - saying jobs and security depended on the UK’s nuclear weapons system.

“We should have learned these lessons in the 1980s,” she added.
