Virginia Wade: Konta's progression is 'unbelievable'
The progression of British tennis star Johanna Konta over the past 12 months has been 'unbelievable', Virginia Wade says.
Konta is through to the Australian Open semi-finals and is hoping to become the first female British finalist at a Grand Slam tournament since Wade won Wimbledon in 1977.
And Wade, who also won the Australian Open in 1973, is very pleased with Konta's recent form.
"It's exciting - very exciting. It's unbelievable actually. What a thrill for Jo Konta, what a thrill for everybody," she told Mark Pougatch on 5 live Sport.
"I'm surprised because tennis isn't usually like that when you take huge, giant steps. This has just been a springboard."
