Minister: UK 'playing its role' on child refugees
The UK is to accept more unaccompanied child refugees from Syria and other conflict zones - but the government has not said how many.
Speaking to the Daily Politics, ѿý Office minister James Brokenshire said the government would work with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees “to identify those who are orphaned, those who are separated in the region” and how they may come to UK “as a consequence of that”.
Asked to give a number, he said he could not because “it is a question of establishing a family connection within the UK.”
The minister said there would also be a £10m fund to provide “direct support” to child refugees in Europe, adding that the government was “playing its role”.
