Mary Somerville: the first scientist
The 19th century scientist, Mary Somerville, is one of three Scottish figures being considered to appear on the Royal Bank of Scotland’s new ten pound note. She was a writer on science, a mathematician and an astronomer and an advocate of women’s rights.
